Custom & Specialty.

Some roofs do not fit a standard quote. Unusual geometry, a heritage building with constraints on what can be used, a phased project on an occupied site, or a detail that has to be fabricated because nothing off the shelf will do. That is the work we take on.

The jobs that need thinking about.

A simple roof is a supply-and-install exercise. A complicated one is a design problem first — how the planes meet, where the water concentrates, what happens at the transition between two systems, and how to build it in stages without leaving the building open.

Most of it comes down to the metal. When a detail needs a flashing that does not exist as a stock profile, we draw it and have it formed by the metal suppliers we work with, rather than forcing the roof to accept something that nearly fits.

What we take on.

01

Complex Geometry

Multiple intersecting planes, turrets, dormers stacked on dormers, curved sections, and valleys that carry the drainage of half a roof into one point. These need the water path worked out before anyone starts installing.

02

Heritage & Restoration

Older buildings come with constraints — on appearance, on materials, sometimes on what can be fastened into the structure. The job is to make the roof perform to a modern standard without making the building look wrong.

03

Multi-Phase Projects

Large or occupied buildings that cannot be opened up all at once. The roof is sequenced so each phase is closed in before the next begins, so the building can stay in use.

04

System Transitions

Where a flat section meets a pitched one, or two different assemblies meet on the same structure. These junctions are the most common source of long-term leaks on a complicated roof, and they deserve to be designed rather than improvised.

05

Custom Flashing Fabrication

Profiles, transitions, curbs and one-off pieces, drawn to suit the detail in front of us and formed to that drawing by our metal suppliers. See the sheet metal side of the business.

06

Insurance Claim Support

Documenting what failed and why, with the photographs and detail your adjuster needs, and doing the remedial work once the claim is settled.

Work it out first.

STEP 01

Understand the building

What is there, what condition it is in, what constraints apply — heritage, structural, occupancy, access. On a complex roof this stage is most of the work.

STEP 02

Resolve the details

Water path, transitions, terminations and anything that has to be fabricated. Decided before the crew arrives, not solved on a ladder.

STEP 03

Sequence it

Especially on occupied or phased sites: what comes off when, and how each stage is closed in at the end of the day.

STEP 04

Build and document

Executed to the plan, with the record you need afterwards — for a warranty, an insurer, or the next person who works on the building.

Not sure it fits anywhere?

If your project does not obviously match one of our other services, this is the right place to start the conversation. Send us photographs, drawings, or just a description of the problem and we will tell you honestly whether it is work we should be doing — and if it is not, we will say so.

Specialty questions.

Anything where the answer is not a standard system installed the standard way — unusual geometry, heritage constraints, phasing around occupants, or details that have to be fabricated to suit.
Often, and where an exact match is not available we will have it fabricated to suit or recommend the closest appropriate option. We will be straight with you about what is achievable before the work starts.
Yes. We phase the work so the building can stay in use while its roof is replaced section by section.
We can document what failed and why, and provide the photographs and written detail your adjuster needs. We are roofers rather than adjusters, so we describe what we find rather than negotiate the claim for you.
Send photographs or drawings and describe the problem. Complex jobs are much easier to talk about once we can see what we are dealing with.
